IBA GmbH
IBA GmbH is dedicated to provide high quality tools for life science research. Being a “TAGnology” company IBA is a competent research partner in the academic community and one of the foremost providers of expression cloning and protein purification technologies as well as delivery technologies for proteins and nucleic acids. The proprietary protein products and services cover the entire drug discovery process. IBA assists its customers from early discovery to the market identifying the company as prime innovator for the pharmaceutical industry meeting their need to increase research productivity.
The headquarters of the privately held company are located in Göttingen, Germany, and were originally founded as the non-profit organization “Institut für Bioanalytik”. IBA GmbH started marketing its products and services world-wide in 2000.
Product portfolio
Strep-tag® is a universal and patented technology platform for cloning, expression, single-step purification, detection and assays of pure and bioactive proteins.
As optimal partner for Strep-tag in double-tag proteins IBA offers 6xHis-tag enabling the rapid control of full length expression and increasing protein purity due to two independent purification methods.
Recently, “MATra” for magnet assisted transfection has been introduced, which allows efficient transfection of a large range of cell lines. A combination of the MA Lipofection Enhancer with the new lipofection reagent IBAfect offers further options.
Also, the company offers a product portfolio for high-throughput applications presented as IBA’s integrated protein products and services.
The comprehensive product line centered around proteins is completed with IBA Biologics‘ contract manufacturing service encompassing large scale production of recombinant proteins under GMP.
IBA’s nucleic acid division is specialized in RNA oligonucleotide synthesis, labelled oligonucleotides (e.g. for real-time PCR), triphosphates and total chemical gene synthesis. Of special importance is IBA’s expertise in double-stranded RNA for interference studies which will soon be complemented by suitable transfection reagents. In 2004, IBA obtained a license for LNA (locked nucleic acid) from Exiqon.
A break-through in functional T-cell isolation is the new Streptamer® technology, which is a novel method to functionally isolate and characterize antigen-specific T-cells.
IBA is offering a kit for isolating multi-protein complexes and for identifying protein-protein interactions, a larger set of tagged recombinant proteins such as phosphatases or kinases as well as a phage coupling reagent for NMR.
